Educational Q&A

As a colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction; instead it frames the ethical reading of events by naming the section as Abhimanyu’s slaying and linking it to further combat. The structure itself invites reflection on how one act of violence and injustice in war propagates further retaliation and moral decline.

This line is the chapter-ending colophon: it announces that the thirty-ninth chapter of the Droṇa Parva has concluded, within the Abhimanyu-vadha section, and that the chapter’s focus is the battle involving Duḥśāsana, as reported by Sañjaya.
