सूतपुत्रवधार्थाय शस्त्राण्यादाय सर्वश: । प्रययु: कर्णमुद्दिश्य मृत्युं कृत्वा निवर्तनम्
sañjaya uvāca | sūtaputravadhārthāya śastrāṇy ādāya sarvaśaḥ | prayayuḥ karṇam uddiśya mṛtyuṃ kṛtvā nivartanam ||
جنگ میں دھِرِشتدیومن کو شکست کھاتا دیکھ کر غصّے سے بھرے پانچال اور سومک مہارتھی ہر طرح کے ہتھیار اٹھا کر سوت پُتر کرن کے وध کے لیے بڑھ چلے۔ انہوں نے میدانِ جنگ سے پلٹنے کی حد موت ہی ٹھہرائی—موت ہی کو پسپائی کا انجام سمجھ کر—وہ کرن کو نشانہ بنا کر اس کی طرف لپکے۔
