Educational Q&A

The verse highlights a moral dynamic of war: when both sides fixate on each other’s faults and nurture anger, violence becomes self-perpetuating. It implicitly warns that mutual blame (paraspara-kṛtāgasaḥ) and wrathful perception (udīkṣantaḥ) cloud discernment and weaken dharmic restraint.

Sañjaya describes the battlefield situation: Kuru and Pāṇḍava warriors, provoked and furious, continue fighting while staring at each other with hostile looks, each side viewing the other as the offender.
