Even exalted heavenly states are not permanent; beings can fall from devaloka, and the text frames their condition in terms of guṇas—here, becoming virajasaḥ (free from rajas), highlighting moral-psychological purity as a significant marker beyond mere celestial status.
Sañjaya reports to the king about certain beings (contextually, a group under discussion in the chapter) who have departed from the divine realm and describes their purified state and the measure of their lifespan as thirteen thousand years.
