Bhīṣma’s Fall to the Arrow-Bed
tato rakṣo mahābāhuṃ sātyakiṃ satyavikramam | vivyādha viśikhaiḥ tīkṣṇaiḥ siṃhanādaṃ nanāda ca ||

The verse highlights a kṣatriya-war ethic where courage is tested under sudden violence and intimidation. True valor (satyavikrama) is shown by steadiness of mind and duty-bound resistance even when attacked fiercely and psychologically pressured.
Sañjaya reports that an enemy rākṣasa-warrior shoots Sātyaki with sharp arrows and simultaneously lets out a lion-like roar, signaling aggressive assault and an attempt to overawe the opponent on the battlefield.
