Bhīmasena’s Engagement with Multiple Mahārathas
tato bhīṣmaḥ kuruśreṣṭhaḥ siṁhavad vinadan muhuḥ

The verse highlights kṣātra-dharma in practice: a commander embodies courage and steadiness, using disciplined displays of strength to inspire confidence and uphold duty amid the moral gravity of war.
Sañjaya reports that Bhīṣma, leading the Kuru forces, repeatedly lets out a lion-like roar—an audible signal of readiness and a rallying gesture to energize his troops at a critical moment in the battle narrative.
