ततो दीनान्‌ पशून्‌ दृष्टवा ऋषयस्ते तपोधना: । ऊचुः: शक्रं: समागम्य नायं यज्ञविधि: शुभ:,उन पशुओंकी दयनीय अवस्था देखकर वे तपोधन ऋषि इन्द्रके पास जाकर बोले --“यह जो यज्ञमें पशुवधका विधान है, यह शुभकारक नहीं है

tato dīnān paśūn dṛṣṭvā ṛṣayas te tapodhanāḥ | ūcuḥ śakraṃ samāgamya nāyaṃ yajñavidhiḥ śubhaḥ ||

پھر اُن جانوروں کی نہایت دردناک حالت دیکھ کر وہ تپسیا کے دھنی رِشی شکر (اِندر) کے پاس گئے اور بولے—“یَجْیَ میں جانوروں کے قتل کا یہ طریقہ مبارک نہیں ہے۔”
