Abhimanyu’s Śrāddha; Vyāsa’s Assurance of the Unborn Heir (अभिमन्योः श्राद्धं तथा गर्भरक्षणोपदेशः)

मां चापि पुण्डरीकाक्ष चपलाक्ष: प्रियो मम । आहवं पृष्ठतः कृत्वा कच्चिन्न निहत: परै:,कच्चिन्मुखं न गोविन्द तेनाजी विकृतं कृतम्‌ | 'पुण्डरीकाक्ष! संग्राममें अभिमन्युने तुमको और अपनी माता सुभद्राको क्‍या संदेश दिया था? चंचल नेत्रोंवाला वह मेरा प्यारा नाती मेरे लिये क्या संदेश देकर मरा था? कहीं वह युद्धमें पीठ दिखाकर तो शत्रुओंके हाथसे नहीं मारा गया? गोविन्द! उसने युद्धमें भयके कारण अपना मुख विकृत तो नहीं कर लिया था

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: māṁ cāpi puṇḍarīkākṣa capalākṣaḥ priyo mama | āhavaṁ pṛṣṭhataḥ kṛtvā kaccin na nihataḥ paraiḥ, kaccin mukhaṁ na govinda tenāji vikṛtaṁ kṛtam ||

“اے پُنڈریکاکش! چنچل آنکھوں والا میرا پیارا ابھیمنیو مجھے اور اپنی ماں سُبھدرَا کو کیا پیغام دے گیا؟ کیا وہ جنگ میں پیٹھ پھیر کر دشمنوں کے ہاتھوں مارا گیا؟ اے گووند، کیا اس رن میں خوف سے اس کا چہرہ بگڑ گیا تھا؟”
