Abhimanyu’s Śrāddha; Vyāsa’s Assurance of the Unborn Heir (अभिमन्योः श्राद्धं तथा गर्भरक्षणोपदेशः)
किमब्रवीत् त्वां संग्रामे सुभद्रां मातरं प्रति,कच्चिन्मुखं न गोविन्द तेनाजी विकृतं कृतम् | 'पुण्डरीकाक्ष! संग्राममें अभिमन्युने तुमको और अपनी माता सुभद्राको क्या संदेश दिया था? चंचल नेत्रोंवाला वह मेरा प्यारा नाती मेरे लिये क्या संदेश देकर मरा था? कहीं वह युद्धमें पीठ दिखाकर तो शत्रुओंके हाथसे नहीं मारा गया? गोविन्द! उसने युद्धमें भयके कारण अपना मुख विकृत तो नहीं कर लिया था
Vaiśampāyana uvāca:
kim abravīt tvāṁ saṅgrāme Subhadrāṁ mātaraṁ prati,
kaccin mukhaṁ na Govinda tenājau vikṛtaṁ kṛtam |
وَیشَمپایَن نے کہا— “میدانِ جنگ میں اُس نے تم سے اور اپنی ماں سُبھدرَا کے بارے میں کیا کہا تھا؟ اے گووند! کیا اُس لڑائی میں خوف سے اُس کا چہرہ بگڑ گیا تھا؟ کیا وہ ڈر کر پیٹھ پھیر کر دشمنوں کے ہاتھوں مارا گیا، یا ثابت قدم رہتے ہوئے ہی رن میں گرا؟”
