Educational Q&A

Power and self-regard, when rooted in adharma, turn into the very causes of ruin. The verse highlights ethical reversal: what one boasts of (strength, royal privilege) becomes the instrument through which destruction is reached.

Vaiśampāyana recalls Duryodhana’s end: he was driven to total destruction along with his sons and relatives. The statement frames his downfall as the culmination of his choices and the violent course of the Kurukṣetra conflict.
