याभ्यां दुर्योधनो नीत: क्षयं ससुतबान्धव: । 'ये मेरी दोनों भुजाएँ चन्दनसे चर्चित एवं चन्दन लगानेके ही योग्य हैं, जिनके द्वारा पुत्रों और बन्धु-बान्धवोंसहित राजा दुर्योधन नष्ट कर दिया गया”
yābhyāṃ duryodhano nītaḥ kṣayaṃ sa-suta-bāndhavaḥ |
جن دونوں بازوؤں کو وہ صرف صندل کے لیپ کے لائق سمجھتا تھا، انہی دونوں بازوؤں کے سبب بادشاہ دُریودھن اپنے بیٹوں اور رشتہ داروں سمیت ہلاکت و تباہی تک پہنچا دیا گیا۔
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Power and self-regard, when rooted in adharma, turn into the very causes of ruin. The verse highlights ethical reversal: what one boasts of (strength, royal privilege) becomes the instrument through which destruction is reached.
Vaiśampāyana recalls Duryodhana’s end: he was driven to total destruction along with his sons and relatives. The statement frames his downfall as the culmination of his choices and the violent course of the Kurukṣetra conflict.
