Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that disciplined observance—kindling the sacred fire at sunrise while oriented to the Sun—and giving gold as an act connected to a vow, yields comprehensive fulfillment of aims. It emphasizes intention (vrata-saṅkalpa) and generosity (dāna) performed at an auspicious time as a dharmic path to prosperity.

Vasiṣṭha is instructing about the fruits of specific dharmic practices. He describes a ritual act performed at sunrise—kindling fire and making a gold donation with a vow in mind—and states the promised result: attainment of all desired objectives.
