सर्वकामानवाप्रोति कीर्ति चैव हि शाश्वतीम् । प्रेत्य चानन्त्यमश्नाति पापेभ्यश्व प्रमुच्यते
sarvakāmān avāpnoti kīrtiṃ caiva hi śāśvatīm | pretya cānantyam aśnāti pāpebhyaś ca pramucyate ||
بھیشم نے کہا—وہ تمام (دھرم کے مطابق) آرزوئیں پالیتا ہے اور دائمی ناموری بھی پاتا ہے۔ مرنے کے بعد وہ لامتناہی سعادت بھوگتا ہے اور گناہوں سے رہائی پاتا ہے۔
भीष्म उवाच
Bhīṣma states the dharmic principle that a righteous observance (implied by the surrounding instruction) yields comprehensive worldly well-being—fulfilled aims and lasting good name—while also granting posthumous spiritual benefit: an unending blessed state and release from sinful consequences.
In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma from his bed of arrows. This verse functions as a phalaśruti-style assurance, summarizing the rewards promised for the practice or vow being taught in the immediate context.
