The verse highlights that rightful action begins with consultation and is carried out with humility. Even the gods, when faced with a force linked to ascetic merit and moral authority, proceed collectively and with reverence—implying that power should be tempered by deliberation and respect for dharma.
After conferring among themselves, the gods approach the person associated with Mada and then, as a united group, address Indra (Śakra) while bowing to the twice-born sage. The moment frames a tense encounter where divine authority acknowledges the superior moral/spiritual standing of a Brahmin ascetic.
