Educational Q&A

Devotional engagement with the Viṣṇu-sahasranāma—listening, reciting, and singing—produces auspicious results for all, aligning with each varṇa’s legitimate aims: wisdom for the brāhmaṇa, victory for the kṣatriya, prosperity for the vaiśya, and happiness for the śūdra.

In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma. Within the Viṣṇu-sahasranāma section, he states the fruits (phalaśruti) of the hymn, emphasizing its universal efficacy and practical benefits when practiced through śravaṇa, paṭhana, and kīrtana.
