उपवास: सदा धर्मो ब्राह्मणस्य न संशय: । स हि धर्मार्थसम्पन्नो ब्रह्म भूयाय कल्पते

upavāsaḥ sadā dharmo brāhmaṇasya na saṁśayaḥ | sa hi dharmārthasampanno brahma bhūyāya kalpate ||

اس میں کوئی شک نہیں کہ برہمن کے لیے اُپواس—یعنی حواس پر ضبط و ضبطِ نفس کی ریاضت—ہمیشہ دھرم ہے۔ جو برہمن دھرم اور ارتھ (درست چال چلن اور جائز وسائل) سے آراستہ ہو، وہ برہمن کی حالت تک پہنچنے کے لائق ہو جاتا ہے۔
