Viṣṇu-sahasranāma—Yudhiṣṭhira’s Inquiry and Bhīṣma’s Recitation (विष्णोर्नामसहस्रम्)
iti śrīmahābhārate anuśāsanaparvaṇi dānadharmaparvaṇi arundhatī-citragupta-rahasye triṃśay-adhika-śatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ
This line functions as a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it frames the teaching context by locating the discourse within the Mahābhārata’s Anuśāsana Parvan and the dāna-dharma (ethics of giving) section, reminding the reader that moral action—especially generosity—belongs to a larger system of dharma and accountability.
The speaker label indicates Yama has been speaking, and this sentence marks the formal close of a chapter titled “Arundhatī–Citragupta Secret” within the dāna-dharma portion of Anuśāsana Parvan, identifying it as the 130th chapter.
