गुणवान् विगुणानन्यान् नूनं पश्यसि सत्कृतान् । प्राज्ञो5प्राज्ञान् विनीतात्मा तेनासि हरिण: कृश:
guṇavān viguṇān anyān nūnaṃ paśyasi satkṛtān | prājño 'prājñān vinītātmā tenāsi hariṇaḥ kṛśaḥ ||
برہمن نے کہا—“یقیناً تم دیکھتے ہو کہ بے ہنر لوگ عزت پاتے ہیں اور اہلِ فضیلت محروم رہتے ہیں۔ تم خود دانا اور ضبطِ نفس والے ہو، پھر بھی نادانوں کو احترام ملتا دیکھتے ہو؛ اسی ناانصافی نے تمہیں ہرن کی طرح زرد رو اور دبلا کر دیا ہے۔”
