Adhyāya 122 — Śruta-vṛtta-yukta Brāhmaṇa and the Ethics of Dāna

गुणभूतानि भूतानि तत्र त्वमुपभोक्ष्यसे । तत्र ते5हं विनेष्यामि ब्रह्मा त्वं यत्र वैष्यसि

Transliteration

guṇabhūtāni bhūtāni tatra tvam upabhokṣyase | tatra te 'haṃ vineṣyāmi brahmā tvaṃ yatra vaiṣyasi ||

Translation

ویاس نے کہا—وہاں تم تجربے کے موضوعات کو محض پانچ مہابھوتوں کی تبدیلیاں جان کر، بے تعلقی کے ساتھ بھوگ کرو گے۔ پھر میں تمہارے پاس آ کر برہما-ودیا کا उपदेश دوں گا؛ اور تم جس لوک میں جانا چاہو گے، اسی لوک تک میں تمہیں پہنچا دوں گا۔

Sense-objects should be experienced without clinging, by seeing them as mere modifications of the elemental world; when dispassion matures, the teacher grants brahma-vidyā and guides the seeker toward the desired (and ultimately highest) destination.
