Dāna-Śreṣṭhatā: On the Superiority of Giving
Maitreya–Vyāsa Exemplum
वहतां सुमहाभारं संनिकर्षे स्वनं प्रभो । नृणां च संवाहयतां श्रूयते विविध: स्वन:
vahatāṃ sumahābhāraṃ saṃnikarṣe svanaṃ prabho | nṛṇāṃ ca saṃvāhayatāṃ śrūyate vividhaḥ svanaḥ ||
اے آقا! نہایت بھاری بوجھ اٹھائے گاڑی کی گھڑگھڑاہٹ مجھے بالکل قریب سے سنائی دے رہی ہے، اور اسے ہانکنے والے آدمیوں کی طرح طرح کی پکاریں بھی۔ یہ شور کانوں میں پڑتے ہی دل میں یہ خوف جاگ اٹھتا ہے کہ ‘کہیں گاڑی آ کر مجھے کچل نہ دے!’ اسی لیے میں عجلت میں یہاں سے بھاگ رہا ہوں۔ دیکھیے، بیلوں پر کوڑا پڑ رہا ہے اور وہ بوجھ کے نیچے ہانپتے ہوئے چلے آ رہے ہیں۔
