उपवासफलात्मकविधिः — Upavāsa as Yajña-Equivalent Merit

यस्तु प्रातस्तथा सायं भुञ्जानो नान्तरा पिबेत्‌ । अहिंसानिरतो नित्यं जुह्मॉानो जातवेदसम्‌

yastu prātastathā sāyaṃ bhuñjāno nāntarā pibet | ahiṃsā-nirato nityaṃ juhvāno jātavedasam ||

لیکن جو شخص صرف صبح اور شام کھانا کھاتا ہے اور درمیان میں کچھ بھی نہیں پیتا؛ جو ہمیشہ اہنسا میں لگا رہتا ہے اور روزانہ جاتَویدس (اگنی) میں آہوتی دیتا ہے—وہ ضبط و تقویٰ پر قائم ایک دھارمک طریقِ زیست اختیار کرتا ہے۔
