Tapas-śreṣṭhatā: Anāśana as the Highest Austerity

दशभिर्विश्वजिद्धिश्न शतैरष्टादशोत्तरै: । न चैव तेषां देवेश फलेनाहमिहागमम्‌

daśabhir viśvajid-dhiśna śatair aṣṭādaśottaraiḥ | na caiva teṣāṃ deveśa phalenāham ihāgamam, brahman |

بھگیرتھ نے کہا—“اے دیویشور! اے برہمن! میں نے وِشوَجِت یَگّیہ دس بار کیا، اور پھر اس سے بھی زیادہ ایک سو اٹھارہ بار مزید کیا؛ پھر بھی اُن اعمال کے پھل سے میں یہاں نہیں آیا۔ میرا یہاں آنا یَگّیہ-پُنّیہ کا صلہ نہیں۔”
