Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the kṣatriya ethic of meeting conflict directly and the social duty of protecting one’s side; when great warriors confront each other, their personal valor affects the morale and stability of entire armies.

Arjuna and the Pāñcāla king come face-to-face, ready to fight. Their approach and readiness for combat causes commotion throughout the gathered forces, compared to the tumult created by the clash of Indra and Virocana.
