Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It establishes śravaṇa (reverent hearing of Śaiva śāstra) as a prerequisite for meaningful Linga-pūjā—because even before full comprehension, scripture plants dharma-buddhi that matures into correct worship and inner surrender to Pati (Śiva).
By emphasizing that true understanding arises through śāstra-śravaṇa, it points to Śiva-tattva as knowable through pramāṇa (authoritative revelation) that awakens buddhi in the pashu, guiding the soul toward Pati beyond worldly confusion.
Śravaṇa of scripture is highlighted—an essential limb that supports Pāśupata discipline by refining discernment (buddhi), weakening pāśa (bondage), and preparing the practitioner for mantra, dhyāna, and Linga-arcana.
