jambhaḥ kuṃbhaś ca māyāvī kārtavīryaḥ kṛtaṃjayaḥ ete 'surā mahātmāno mahādevaparāyaṇāḥ
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It stresses that Mahadeva is the universal Pati (Lord) worthy of refuge; even those called Asuras can become mahātmans through Mahadeva-parāyaṇatā, which is the inner basis of Linga-pūjā—single-pointed surrender and devotion.
Shiva-tattva is implied as the supreme refuge and final goal (parāyaṇa). Mahadeva is not limited by social or cosmic classifications; He grants grace to any pashu (bound soul) who turns toward Him.
The verse highlights bhakti as a core limb aligned with Pāśupata orientation—exclusive devotion (ananya-śaraṇatā) to Pati, which supports both Linga-pūjā and the yogic movement from pāśa (bondage) toward liberation.
