FAQs

This verse is primarily a tīrtha-name enumeration rather than a direct Atman teaching; indirectly, it supports the Purāṇic view that contact with sanctified realities (tīrthas) purifies the mind, making it fit for Self-knowledge emphasized elsewhere in the Kurma Purana.

No specific yogic technique is taught in this line; its practical emphasis is tīrtha-smaraṇa (recollection/recitation of sacred names) and pilgrimage-oriented purification, which in the Kurma Purana functions as supportive discipline (auxiliary sādhana) for deeper Shaiva-Vaishnava integrated yoga and devotion.

The verse itself does not mention Shiva or Vishnu; however, within the Kurma Purana’s synthesis, tīrtha-mahima is presented as a shared dharmic framework serving both Shaiva and Vaishnava worship, preparing aspirants for unified devotion and higher realization.
