Kapardeśvara at Piśācamocana — Liberation of a Piśāca and the Brahmapāra Hymn
ityuktaḥ śaṅkukarṇo 'tha piśācamidamabravīt / tvādṛśo na hi loke 'smin vidyate puṇyakṛttamaḥ
Śaṅkukarṇa
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
This verse does not directly define Ātman; it functions at the ethical level, praising puṇya (meritorious action), which in Purāṇic theology becomes a preparatory support for inner purification and higher knowledge.
No specific yoga technique is taught in this line; the emphasis is on puṇya and dharma as foundational disciplines that, in the Kurma Purana’s broader Shaiva–Vaishnava synthesis, support sādhana such as devotion, self-restraint, and later yogic practice.
The verse itself is neutral and narrative; indirectly, it reflects the Purāṇa’s integrative ethos where ethical merit and dharma are shared foundations across Shaiva and Vaishnava paths, later harmonized in the text’s broader theology.
