Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Dosha: Vata
Concept: Vāyu arising from the large intestine, when lodged in severe pain, causes belching, stool obstruction, lack of satiety, and intestinal rumbling
Vedantic Theme: Instrumental care: maintaining the body’s functional harmony supports higher pursuits; imbalance of prana/apana disrupts lived experience
Application: Identify pakvashaya-vata involvement when belching + constipation + unsatiated feeling + gut rumbling co-occur; prioritize restoring elimination and vata regulation
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: bibhatsa
Type: body (pakvashaya/large intestine; gastrointestinal tract)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.160.58 (anāha defined by vata obstruction); Garuda Purana 1.160.56-57 (gulma variants and systemic signs)
This verse highlights vāyu as a governing bodily force whose disturbance—especially from the pakvaśaya (colon)—manifests as recognizable digestive and pain-related symptoms.
It gives a diagnostic pattern: when vāyu is aggravated and associated with severe pain, it presents through belching, constipation, lack of satiety, and intestinal gurgling—signs pointing to a colon-origin vāta disturbance.
Use the symptom-cluster as a caution to address digestive regulation and reduce aggravating habits (irregular eating, dryness, stress), seeking appropriate traditional or medical guidance when persistent pain and constipation occur.
