The Slaying of Hiraṇyākṣa and the Triumph of Varāha
sā hatā tena gadayā vihatā bhagavat-karāt vighūrṇitāpatad reje tad adbhutam ivābhavat
In this verse, Hiraṇyākṣa is struck by the mace thrown from Lord Varāha’s own hand; he reels, whirls in dizziness, and falls—an astonishing turn in the divine battle.
Because the Lord’s effortless, decisive strike causes the powerful demon to stagger and fall in a dramatic way, revealing the supremacy of Bhagavān in a manner that appears almost unbelievable.
It reminds one that arrogance and violence ultimately collapse before divine order; cultivating humility, dharma, and devotion aligns one with the protecting power of the Lord.
