Citraketu’s Detachment, Nārada’s Mantra, and the Darśana of Anantadeva
निर्हृत्य ज्ञातयो ज्ञातेर्देहं कृत्वोचिता: क्रिया: । तत्यजुर्दुस्त्यजं स्नेहं शोकमोहभयार्तिदम् ॥ १३ ॥
nirhṛtya jñātayo jñāter dehaṁ kṛtvocitāḥ kriyāḥ tatyajur dustyajaṁ snehaṁ śoka-moha-bhayārtidam
رشتہ داروں نے میت کی آخری رسومات ادا کیں اور مناسب فرائض انجام دیے۔ انہوں نے اس محبت کو ترک کر دیا جو غم، وہم، خوف اور درد کا باعث تھی۔
This verse states that after completing proper rites, one should relinquish attachment—though difficult—because such attachment fuels grief, delusion, and fear.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī is narrating these events and teachings to Mahārāja Parīkṣit.
Do your duties and rituals responsibly, but consciously release possessiveness—recognizing that clinging intensifies anxiety, confusion, and sorrow.
