Genealogies from Yayāti’s Sons to the Yadu Dynasty; Romapāda–Ṛṣyaśṛṅga; Kārtavīryārjuna; and the Rise of Yādava Branches
tasya putra-sahasreṣu pañcaivorvaritā mṛdhe jayadhvajaḥ śūraseno vṛṣabho madhur ūrjitaḥ
The verse names five foremost sons: Jayadhvaja, Śūrasena, Vṛṣabha, Madhu, and Ūrjita.
It indicates that among many sons, these five were recognized as the most capable leaders and warriors, distinguished by martial excellence.
Canto 9 traces royal lines leading toward the Yadu dynasty, the broader dynastic setting in which Śrī Kṛṣṇa later appears; this verse highlights key branches within that lineage.
