पानीयमात्रमुच्छेषं तच्चैकपरितर्पणम् । पास्यत: पुल्कसोऽभ्यागादपो देह्यशुभाय मे ॥ १० ॥
pānīya-mātram uccheṣaṁ tac caika-paritarpaṇam pāsyataḥ pulkaso ’bhyāgād apo dehy aśubhāya me
اس کے بعد صرف پینے کا پانی باقی رہ گیا تھا، وہ بھی صرف ایک شخص کو سیراب کرنے کے لائق۔ بادشاہ جب پینے ہی والا تھا کہ ایک چانڈال آیا اور بولا—“اے راجن، اگرچہ میں ادنیٰ النسل ہوں، مہربانی کرکے مجھے پانی دے دیجیے۔”
