Mucukunda’s Departure; Jarāsandha’s Pursuit; Prelude to Rukmiṇī’s Abduction
Rukmiṇī’s Message Begins
भगवान् पुनराव्रज्य पुरीं यवनवेष्टिताम् । हत्वा म्लेच्छबलं निन्ये तदीयं द्वारकां धनम् ॥ ५ ॥
bhagavān punar āvrajya purīṁ yavana-veṣṭitām hatvā mleccha-balaṁ ninye tadīyaṁ dvārakāṁ dhanam
بھگوان یवनوں سے گھری ہوئی نگری میں پھر لوٹے؛ مِلچھ فوج کو ہلاک کر کے اُن کا مال دُوارکا لے جانے لگے۔
It is clear from this verse that Kālayavana alone pursued Lord Kṛṣṇa into the mountain cave. When Kṛṣṇa returned to the besieged city of Mathurā, He eliminated the vast barbarian army.
In 10.52.5, Śukadeva describes Kṛṣṇa returning to a city surrounded by Yavanas, destroying the mleccha army, and bringing their wealth back to Dvārakā—showing His role as protector of His people.
He recounts Kṛṣṇa’s decisive protection of His capital as part of the unfolding narrative around key events in this chapter, highlighting the Lord’s power and guardianship while the story progresses toward the Rukmiṇī episode.
The verse encourages steadiness in faith: just as Kṛṣṇa removes threats and restores order, a devotee can face adversity with courage, align with dharma, and trust divine protection while acting responsibly.
