Rāsa-līlā Begins; Divine Multiplication; Moral Doubt and Its Resolution
गोपीनां तत्पतीनां च सर्वेषामेव देहिनाम् । योऽन्तश्चरति सोऽध्यक्ष: क्रीडनेनेह देहभाक् ॥ ३५ ॥
gopīnāṁ tat-patīnāṁ ca sarveṣām eva dehinām yo ’ntaś carati so ’dhyakṣaḥ krīḍaneneha deha-bhāk
جو گویپیوں اور ان کے شوہروں کے اندر، بلکہ تمام جسم دھاری جیووں کے اندر نگران گواہ بن کر رہتا ہے، وہی پرم ادھیکش ہے؛ وہی اس دنیا میں دےہ دھار کر الٰہی لیلاؤں کا رس لیتا ہے۔
We certainly do not assume our bodies to enjoy transcendental pastimes, as the Lord does. We eternal souls have accepted material bodies by force because of our foolish attempt to enjoy this material world. The Lord’s forms are all eternal, spiritual existence and cannot be reasonably equated with our temporary flesh.
This verse states that Kṛṣṇa is the one who dwells within everyone’s heart—including the gopīs and their husbands—as the supreme overseer (adhyakṣa), guiding all beings from within.
In the context of the rāsa-līlā, Śukadeva clarifies Kṛṣṇa’s absolute position: the Lord is the inner controller of all, so His pastimes are divine play, not ordinary worldly behavior.
Remembering that the Lord is present within all hearts encourages purity, humility, and responsibility—helping one act ethically and cultivate devotion even amid daily relationships and duties.
