Parīkṣit’s Questions and the Prelude to Kṛṣṇa’s Advent
Earth’s Burden, Viṣṇu’s Order, and Kaṁsa’s Fear
etat kaṁsāya bhagavāñ chaśaṁsābhyetya nāradaḥ bhūmer bhārāyamāṇānāṁ daityānāṁ ca vadhodyamam
It has already been discussed that mother earth implored Lord Brahmā to give her relief from the distress created by the burdensome demons and that Lord Brahmā informed her that Lord Kṛṣṇa Himself was going to appear. Kṛṣṇa says in Bhagavad-gītā (4.8) :
Nārada approached Kaṁsa to inform him that the Lord was arranging the destruction of the Daityas who were burdening the earth, thereby intensifying the events leading to Krishna’s advent and the restoration of dharma.
It indicates that oppressive, demonic-minded rulers and forces had increased adharma to such an extent that the world’s balance was disturbed, prompting divine intervention.
When injustice and harmful power grow unchecked, divine law and moral order ultimately prevail; the verse encourages aligning with dharma rather than fear-driven or exploitative actions.
