उपर्यधश्चात्मनि गोत्रनेत्रयो: परेण ते प्राविशता समेधिता: । ममन्थुरब्धिं तरसा मदोत्कटा महाद्रिणा क्षोभितनक्रचक्रम् ॥ १३ ॥

پروردگار جو پہاڑ کے اوپر بھی اور نیچے بھی تھے، اور دیوتاؤں، اسوروں، واسُکی اور خود پہاڑ میں بھی داخل ہو کر انہیں ابھار رہے تھے—اُن کی ترغیب سے دیو و اسور امرت کے لیے دیوانہ وار عظیم پہاڑ کے ذریعے دودھ کے سمندر کو زور سے متھنے لگے۔ سمندر اس قدر ہلا کہ پانی کے مگرمچھ بے چین ہو گئے، پھر بھی متھن جاری رہا۔
