FAQs

It conveys the satya-śakti principle: a formal injunction/curse is sealed by invoking the infallibility of a deity’s truthful speech and divine witnesses (Brahmā, Soma, Varuṇa), a common Puranic juridical-religious formula.

Beyond rituals and sciences, the Agni Purana preserves narrative jurisprudence—how vows, curses, and ethical sanctions are framed—showing social-moral regulation (kula-śuddhi, avoidance of kula-dūṣaṇa) embedded in mythic discourse.

It warns that dishonoring one’s lineage is a serious karmic fault and that truth-backed divine speech functions as a binding moral force, steering the person toward restraint, repentance, and restoration of familial dharma.
