FAQs

It teaches an Ayurvedic pharmaceutical procedure: take measured quantities of ingredients (ten palas each), coarsely pound them, boil in a droṇa of water, and reduce the liquid to one quarter—i.e., a standard decoction (kvātha) reduction rule.

Beyond theology, the Agni Purana preserves practical, technical instructions—here, precise weights, volumes, and reduction endpoints used in Ayurvedic drug preparation—showing its compendium-like coverage of applied sciences.

While primarily medical and procedural, such disciplined preparation reflects dharmic care for health and right practice; following correct measures and method is treated as a form of purity in action (śuddhi of conduct) aligned with preserving life (āyus).
