एकं द्वौ सकलान् वापि वेदान् प्राप्य सुरोर्मुखात् अनुज्ञातो वरं दत्त्वा गुरवे दक्षिणां ततः
ekaṃ dvau sakalān vāpi vedān prāpya surormukhāt anujñāto varaṃ dattvā gurave dakṣiṇāṃ tataḥ
Matapos matutuhan ang isa, o dalawa, o maging ang lahat ng Veda mula sa bibig ng guru, at matapos makamit ang pahintulot (ng guru), dapat siyang magbigay ng isang biyaya (vara) at pagkatapos ay maghandog sa guro ng guru-dakṣiṇā, ang marangal na kabayaran.
