Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) narrating to the sages (contextual attribution within Prabhāsa Khaṇḍa Māhātmya narration)
Listener: Dilīpa
Scene: Didactic tableau: a human figure bound by dark cords labeled ‘pāpa’, with a worm emerging from earth as symbol of degraded rebirth; sages in the background pronouncing consequence.
Purāṇic dharma literature frames certain actions as producing degrading rebirths, urging restraint, purity of conduct, and repentance.
The surrounding section is Dvārakā Māhātmya, but this verse itself focuses on karmic causality rather than a particular tīrtha.
No explicit rite is prescribed here; it states consequences (phala) as a moral warning.
