Skanda Purana — Mahesvara Khanda, Shloka 102

जपहोमप्रदानैश्च कालमृत्युर्न शाम्यति । विविधा व्याधयः शस्ताः सर्पाद्याः प्राणिनस्तथा

japahomapradānaiśca kālamṛtyurna śāmyati | vividhā vyādhayaḥ śastāḥ sarpādyāḥ prāṇinastathā

Kahit sa japa, homa, at pagbibigay-dana, ang kamatayang dulot ng Panahon ay hindi napapawi. Maraming uri ng karamdaman, sugat mula sa sandata, at mga nilalang gaya ng ahas at iba pa ay mga sanhi ring humahantong sa kamatayan.
