अभाग्यैरिव लोकेषु तारकः स्कंदमाययौ । जग्राह च गदां दिव्यां लक्षघंटादुरासदाम्
abhāgyairiva lokeṣu tārakaḥ skaṃdamāyayau | jagrāha ca gadāṃ divyāṃ lakṣaghaṃṭādurāsadām
Gaya ng kamalasan na bumabagsak sa mga daigdig, sumugod si Tāraka kay Skanda sa pamamagitan ng māyā; at sinunggaban niya ang isang banal na pamalo, kakila-kilabot sa ugong ng sandaang libong kampana.

Scene: Tāraka strides forward like embodied misfortune, towering and grim; he lifts a divine mace studded with innumerable bells, whose thunderous peal rolls across the field as Skanda faces him for the decisive clash.
