Lomaharṣaṇa (Sūta) (deduced: Māheśvarakhaṇḍa narration to sages)
Scene: Garuḍa, wings spread, is struck by ten arrows; Mahīṣa (buffalo-form or buffalo-bannered figure) is hit by nine; then a catastrophic arrow-storm falls like crashing mountain-peaks, visually fragmenting the divine host into scattered, stylized pieces of armor and banners.
The Purāṇa dramatizes how adharma can appear to pulverize even divine forces—preparing the listener for the necessity of Skanda’s advent and victory.
