विषण्णमनसो देवाः समहेंद्रास्तदाभवन् । जातामात्रस्तु दैत्येंद्रस्तारकश्चंडविक्रमः
viṣaṇṇamanaso devāḥ samaheṃdrāstadābhavan | jātāmātrastu daityeṃdrastārakaścaṃḍavikramaḥ
Noon, ang mga diyos—kasama si Indra—ay nabalot ng lungkot. Sapagkat si Tāraka, mabagsik sa tapang, sa sandaling siya’y isilang ay naging panginoon na ng mga Daitya.
