Like a dread wild beast that haunteth secret ways, a dweller on the mountains, from the far region, from beyond, thou hast come. Whetting thy jaw, O Indra, thy keen-edged bolt, smite thou the foes; thrust thou away the oppressions.
Mantra 72
May Vaiśvānara come hither for our succour, coming forth from the far region; may Agni draw near unto our well-uttered praises.
Mantra 73

We, even to-day, have rendered unto thee our desire; with hands outstretched, having approached with reverence. With a mind most apt for sacrifice do thou worship the Gods; with thought unflagging, O inspired Agni!
Mantra 76
Agni, the Shelterer of the sacred seat, and Indra, and Brahmā, the God, and Bṛhaspati: may all the Gods, of one accord, further our sacrifice unto welfare.
Mantra 77
Thou, youngest (Agni), protect the men of the worshipper; hear thou the utterances. Guard the offspring also by thine own might.
It focuses on the Mahāvrata observance and seasonal/solar turning-points (notably Viṣuvat), combining special chants (Svarasāmans) with yajus that ‘set in order’ life, sovereignty, and cosmic alignment.
They are compact integrative prayers—‘mine be…’ and ‘let it be ordered’—aligning breath, mind, speech, body, peace, wealth, fame, and rulership through yajña, so the sacrificer’s life mirrors ṛta.
Agni is awakened as the vigilant guardian of the rite, and the sacrificer’s accumulated merit—ritual, gifts, and public benefactions—is gathered and offered into Agni (as Vaiśvānara) to consolidate and stabilize sacrificial fruit.
