Types of Bhasma and the Method of Wearing Tripuṇḍra
सप्तकोटि महामंत्राः पंचाक्षरपुरस्सराः । तथान्ये कोटिशो मंत्राः शैवकैवल्यहेतवः
saptakoṭi mahāmaṃtrāḥ paṃcākṣarapurassarāḥ | tathānye koṭiśo maṃtrāḥ śaivakaivalyahetavaḥ
May pitumpung milyong dakilang mantra, at ang limang-pantig na mantra (Pañcākṣara) ang nangunguna. Mayroon pang iba pang mga mantra na di-mabilang sa mga krore—ngunit ang lahat ng ito’y mga sanhi tungo sa Śaiva kaivalya, ang paglaya sa pakikipag-isa kay Śiva.

It establishes that many powerful mantras exist, but the Panchakshara is foremost, and that Śiva-oriented mantra practice is a direct means to Śaiva kaivalya (liberation through Śiva’s grace).
In the Vidyeśvarasaṃhitā, mantra is central to Saguna Śiva worship—especially in Linga-upāsanā—where the Panchakshara functions as the primary invocation aligning the devotee with Śiva as Pati.
