पर्वतं पौरुषं प्रोक्तं भूतलं प्राकृतं विदुः । वृक्षादि पौरुषं ज्ञेयं गुल्मादि प्राकृतं विदुः

Transliteration

parvataṃ pauruṣaṃ proktaṃ bhūtalaṃ prākṛtaṃ viduḥ | vṛkṣādi pauruṣaṃ jñeyaṃ gulmādi prākṛtaṃ viduḥ

Translation

Ipinahahayag nila na ang bundok ay kabilang sa kaayusang ‘puruṣa’ (may-malay na namumuno), samantalang ang lupang ibabaw ng daigdig ay kilala bilang ‘prākṛta’ (kay Prakṛti, likas na materyal). Gayundin, ang mga puno at katulad nito ay dapat unawain na nasa kaayusang puruṣa, samantalang ang mga palumpong at katulad nito ay kilala bilang prākṛta. Sa ganitong paraan, inihihiwalay ng Shiva Purana ang namumunong prinsipyo (Puruṣa) sa larangan ng kalikasan (Prakṛti), upang makita ng naghahanap ang Pati (Śiva) na lampas sa dalawa.
