Pārthiva-pratimā Pūjā-vidhāna — Procedure for Worship of an Earthen Icon
माघशुक्ले च सप्तम्यामादित्ययजनं चरेत् । ज्येष्ठभाद्र कसौम्ये च द्वादश्यां श्रवर्णक्षके
māghaśukle ca saptamyāmādityayajanaṃ caret | jyeṣṭhabhādra kasaumye ca dvādaśyāṃ śravarṇakṣake
Sa ikapitong tithi (Saptamī) ng maliwanag na kalahati ng buwan sa Māgha, isagawa ang pagsamba kay Āditya (ang Araw). Gayundin sa mga buwang Jyeṣṭha at Bhādrapada—kapag Lunes (Soma), sa ikalabindalawang tithi (Dvādaśī), at kapag naroon ang nakṣatra na Śravaṇa—dapat tuparin nang wasto ang itinakdang pagsamba.

Significance: Auspicious timing for Āditya worship is taught as a dharmic upāya for wellbeing; in a Śaiva frame, such wellbeing is preparatory (adhikāri-bhāva) for Śiva-bhakti and eventual grace.

In Shaiva practice, honoring cosmic powers like Āditya can be understood as reverencing Shiva’s manifested order (saguna expression of divine governance). Such time-bound observances complement Linga worship by cultivating regularity, purity, and devotion.
Perform Āditya-yajana (Sun worship) on Māgha Śukla Saptamī, and undertake the prescribed worship on Dvādaśī when Monday coincides with Śravaṇa nakshatra—ideally with mantra-japa, offerings, and a focused, sattvic observance.
