It situates sacred history within manvantara cycles, showing how dharma and spiritual lineages recur by divine order under the Lord (Pati), who governs time and cosmic succession.
By naming sages and cosmic periods, the text frames Shiva’s saguna governance of creation—where rishis uphold Vedic-Śaiva disciplines and transmit worship methods (including linga-upāsanā) across cycles.
The verse is primarily chronological; a practical takeaway is to honor rishi-paramparā through daily japa of the Panchākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and respectful remembrance (smaraṇa) of the teachers and sages.
