Lord Shiva (in discourse to a sage addressed as 'viprendra')
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadyojāta
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: progression of creation modes (saṅkalpa→darśana→sparśa→maithuna) across early cycles
It presents a graded view of manifestation: subtler creation arises from will, perception, and contact, while later embodied beings propagate through union—pointing to Shiva as the ultimate source behind both subtle and gross processes.
The Linga signifies Shiva as the causal ground of creation; this verse supports that creation can proceed from subtle powers (will/sight/touch), aligning with Saguna Shiva as Lord of manifestation while implying the deeper, transcendent source.
Discipline of saṅkalpa (intention) through japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and meditative restraint of the senses (sight and touch) is the key takeaway.
