Varṇa-adhikāra, Karma, and the Protection of One’s Attained Spiritual Status (वर्णाधिकारः कर्म च स्वस्थानरक्षणम्)
तस्मात्प्राप्य परं स्थानं प्रमाद्यन्न तु नाशयेत् । स्वस्थानं सर्वदा रक्षेत्प्राप्यापि विपदो नरः
tasmātprāpya paraṃ sthānaṃ pramādyanna tu nāśayet | svasthānaṃ sarvadā rakṣetprāpyāpi vipado naraḥ
Kaya nga, kapag naabot na ang kataas-taasang kalagayan, huwag itong hayaang masira dahil sa kapabayaan. Kahit dumating ang mga kapahamakan, dapat laging ingatan ng tao ang sariling tunay na katayuan—ang matatag na paninindigan sa landas ni Śiva.

It teaches that spiritual attainment is preserved by vigilance (aprāmāda). In Shaiva thought, even after glimpsing higher awareness or receiving grace, one must protect one’s steadiness in Śiva-bhakti and discipline so that negligence does not undo progress.
Linga-worship and Saguna Śiva-upāsanā require regularity and reverent care. The verse emphasizes maintaining one’s established practice—daily pūjā, mantra-japa, and right conduct—so that external troubles do not break continuity of devotion.
A clear takeaway is consistent, guarded sādhana: steady Panchākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), maintaining purity and routine in worship, and avoiding pramāda—skipping practice due to comfort or crisis.
